Brain Rehabilitation

An injury to the brain is, by its nature, complex.

No other type of injury impacts so dramatically and simultaneously on a person’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning and ability to participate in everyday activities. Special Tree’s array of care is purposely designed to provide the many rehabilitation options to meet each person’s specific needs.

Depending on the severity of the injury, rehabilitation is focused on helping the person return to home, community, and work activities or on preparing for an alternative living environment offering supervision, care, and continuing treatment. Many rehabilitation professionals, working as an interdisciplinary team, become involved in the process — from physical and occupational therapists to speech/language pathologists to psychologists, social workers, dietitians, and others.

Special Tree brain rehabilitation is available in a variety of settings including the NeuroCare subacute program for persons with continuing medical and nursing needs, extended treatment in a Residential Program, Outpatient Therapy services, and Home and Community offerings through our partner company, CC Rehab.

Our team of experts can provide care for a variety of neuro diagnoses including:

  • Stroke

  • Parkinson’s Disease

Brain Injury Resources

If you or a loved one has experienced a brain injury, we recommend connecting with the Brain Injury Association of Michigan (BIAMI) and the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA). These organizations provide a wealth of education and resources that is invaluable to learning about traumatic brain injury, rehabilitation resources, and the path to recovery.
