SHIFT: Per Diem M-F / 9-5

PAY RATE: starts at $30.00 per hour

Special Tree has a temporary opportunity for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our neuro rehabilitation team at our specialty rehabilitation campus in Romulus, Michigan.

THE ROLE:

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA), as a member of an interdisciplinary care team, assists with appropriate therapeutic intervention under the direction of a licensed/ registered Occupational Therapist to maximize the client’s cognitive, sensory, physical functioning, and level of independence.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Provides fabulous every day care, every day to clients and other customers.

  • Implements portions of a client’s Occupational Therapy program as established by the licensed/registered Occupational Therapist.

  • Assists the Occupational Therapist directly in administering tests and assessment procedures.

  • Observes and documents the client’s responses to treatment.

  • Provides client, family, and staff education and training as needed and documents appropriately.

  • Maintains confidentiality of information pertaining to clients, staff, and business operations, and adheres to all HIPAA standards.

  • Behaves in accordance with the Mission and Values of Special Tree.

  • Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner.

  • Respects and appropriately considers age, gender, cultural background, and related factors when providing services to all internal and external customers.

  • Demonstrates ability to work appropriately with clients who may exhibit aggressive or difficult behaviors following STRS Behavior Management policy and training.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • An Associate’s degree in Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant is required.

  • Certification as a COTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy is required along with licensure in the State of Michigan.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Demonstrates good moral character.

  • Prefer 1 year experience with variety of clients.
