Special Tree Celebrates 10th Consecutive Top Workplace Award

For the 10th year in a row, Special Tree has earned a Top Workplace Award from the Detroit Free Press! Special Tree was thrilled to rank #13 in the Large-Size company category, placing it in the top third of the list.  The recognition is based solely on employee feedback through a survey that covers topics like work and life balance, salary, benefits, leadership, and corporate culture.

“This award belongs to all of our employees at Special Tree,” said CEO Joe Richert.  “While it’s gratifying to have earned this recognition for ten years, we’re most thankful for our fabulous team.  The outstanding rehabilitation and care they provide to our clients throughout their recovery is what makes Special Tree a great place to work.”

In addition to being a Top Workplace for a decade, Special Tree also celebrated 45 years as a leading neurorehabilitation provider for brain and spinal cord injury. "Our longevity and awards say a lot about the dedication of our team members and especially about the culture of care at Special Tree," said Kate McClain, Director of Workforce Engagement.

In fact, team members had a lot of positive things to say about caring for our patients on the Top Workplace survey:

Here’s what team members had to say about working at Special Tree:

  • "I love my clients and getting to work with this population has been my dream since I completed school. I have great flexibility to arrange my schedule as I need to.”

  • “The level of appreciation and respect for both client and employees. Although this is a business, They (management) care and find various ways to demonstrate."

  • "I love the diversity and complexity of the clients I feel like I make a difference I think the work environment in my department is great."

  • "I feel like I am making a difference in all of my clients lives every single day, big or small. Some days are challenging but worth it."

  • "make a difference in clients lives and that smile or thank you gives me the satisfaction of making someone's day better."

"Having employees who are engaged and dedicated to their work is vital to our success,” said Kate.  “That’s why Special Tree invests in our team members to provide the resources and support to help them thrive."  Learn more about the fabulous work opportunities at Special Tree!
