Special Tree’s state-of-the-art NeuroCare Campus is located on four-wooded acres in a quiet suburban community in the greater Detroit Metro area and was designed specifically to meet the needs of adults and children with brain injury and spinal cord injury rehabilitation. With the most advanced technology and amenities available, we serve clients with active, long term, and transitional needs through our 39-bed subacute care unit, full service therapy clinic, and a neuro residential program.
The subacute care unit is the foundation of Special Tree’s continuum and provides highly skilled care and comprehensive rehabilitation for adults and children. With 24/7 skilled nursing, 24/7 on-site respiratory services and advanced, in-wall respiratory equipment our experienced team of rehabilitation specialists provide care and treatment for clients with more medically complex needs. The unit, which features 39-private rooms, is Michigan’s only long-term facility accredited by CARF for subacute nursing.
The neuro residential program is uniquely designed to meet the long-term needs of aging individuals with brain injury. The 15-bed unit combines the best of our residential services – a welcoming and friendly home environment, highly trained staff, personalized care, safety, and quality of life programming; with the additional benefit of more intensive medical support. The program provides 24-hour care, nursing services, community areas for dining and socializing, a full activities program and access to the NeuroCare Campus’s many indoor and outdoor amenities.
Special Tree’s state-of-the-art therapy clinic features the latest rehabilitation equipment and technologies including an orthotics shop, therapy kitchen, aquatic therapy pool, and a Snozalen® Room for sensory-based therapies. Both subacute and outpatient rehabilitation treatment services are available including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, psychology & social work, massage therapy, therapeutic recreation, massage therapy, and horticulture therapy in our new greenhouse.
The spacious campus provides many amenities for clients and families to enjoy throughout the year. Paved walking paths, nature trails, an accessible fishing pond, and a gazebo showcase the Campus’s wetlands and wildlife habitat. Other amenities include a new 1700 square-foot greenhouse, an in-house hair and nail salon, a three-season room, courtyard areas, visitor’s business lounge, and more.
